The outrigger canoe paddles, the Lasta 1 and 2 are lightweight and strong, and
reasonably priced to outfit a team. The Lastas use an oval basswood shaft
with cedar and butternut blade with hardwood edges reinforced with epoxy and
fiberglass. The Regattas outrigger steering paddles use a similiar construction
with tougher fiberglass reinforcementand braiding on the shaft. The Holopuni line
of outrigger steering paddles are designed for rough water paddling and outrigger
sailing, use a laminated shaft with carbon braid and the wood core blade
is reinforced with fiberglass and carbon fiber. Nick Beck from Holopuni Canoes
has helped with the designs of the Holopuni Big Water and Holopuni Classic outrigger
canoe steering paddlesNick also tests them paddling and sailing outriggers
